During and following his accounting studies in London, Mr. S. Michail worked (1972-1977) for Coopers and Lybrand in the audit department, dealing with large international firms and serving his articles. In 1977, he moved to Greece and joined the accounting firm, Spicer and Oppenheim, earning the title of Partner in charge of its Greek operations. During his stay in Greece (1977-1984), he was mainly involved in developing effective tax structures for local companies and also designing and implementing internal control systems. His work experience ranged from small local trading companies requiring funding and general management reporting to large international clients with significant international trading. His major success was his involvement in the financial aspects of tourist projects and his cooperation with shared ownership companies.
Between the years of 1984 and 1992 he returned to Cyprus and worked as an Independent Financial Consultant, advising on tax and other financial matters. He would deal with small and medium companies, and specialize in the tourist industry. His ample accounting experience gained in Greece came to use when he started working at the developing industry in Paphos, Cyprus, as an advisor. In 1992 until his retirement in 2011, he was employed as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (ex Coopers and Lybrand) based in the office in Pafos. In this position, he was working in the tax and the GCS departments servicing mainly large international clients and advising them on tax structures.
Throughout his career, Savvas has been working with various non-profitable organizations such as the Heart Association, Yeroskipou Municipality and local churches. He has also devoted a lot of time advising youth associations on various matters. In addition, he was greatly involved with the Local Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, giving lectures and providing assistance to young and small entrepreneurs.
