Examples

  • Provision of legal advice to a non-Greek client with regards to a claim for brokerage fees brought against its former subsidiary in Greece. The client owned a societe anonyme in Greece, which was the owner of a major hotel property in Corfu, Greece. Following the sale of the said subsidiary, brokers filed a lawsuit against the latter requesting payment of brokerage fees of approximately 1 million Euros for the sale of the real estate property. The client, in accordance with the Share Purchase Agreement, undertook the defense of such claim. 
    Our Firm represented the client before the Athens Courts, drafted the respective pleadings, prepared all supporting documents, including testimonies of the witnesses etc. The issued decision rejected the lawsuit filed, accepting all argumentation put forward on behalf of the Client. 
  • The Client has entered into a preliminary agreement for the acquisition of a hotel located in the centre of the city of Athens, which did not further pursue. There is a dispute between the owner of the hotel and the Client, regarding the refund of the advance payment by the latter.
    We have provided a legal opinion in relation to the chances to successfully claim the amount involved before the Courts and the legal grounds for such claim, including analysis of the potential defense by the hotel owner. 
  • Legal advice in relation to the enforcement in Greece of an arbitrary award issued in Qatar. 
    Legal advice with regards to initiating arbitration pursuant to a Shares Purchase Agreement governed by Greek Law, involving interpretation of various clauses pertaining to claims between the contracting parties following acquisition of the target company. 
  • Provision of ongoing legal advice on dispute resolution to a major international client and its Greek subsidiary, including its court representation in a considerable number of pending commercial litigation cases before the Greek Courts including Supreme Court in disputes with various local Travel Agencies and suppliers of IT services in Greece involving considerable amounts. 
  • Provision of legal advice to a U.S. listed company established in Greece, including its court representation in various debt collection and third-party bankruptcy issues.
  • Representation of clients who have been engaged in a complex litigation, involving also their insurance companies, following a lawsuit for medical malpractice against them by the relatives of a patient who passed away during a heart operation. 
  • Provision of legal advice to a U.S. hotel and entertainment company with regards to its participation to an international tender issued by the Greek State. 
    Following the disqualification of the client and the acceptance of its competitor’s participation documents at the first stage of the tender, we have appealed the respective decision issued by the Hellenic Gaming Commission by filing a preliminary appeal before the Authority for the Examination of Preliminary Appeals, requesting the cancellation of our disqualification and the disqualification of our competitor.
    Subsequently, following the rejection of our preliminary appeal, we have addressed the dispute before the Greek Supreme Administrative Court (Council of State) with a two-fold action, requesting: a) the suspension of the tender up until the issuance of a decision on the merits of the dispute and b) the cancellation of the decisions issued by the Hellenic Gaming Commission and the Authority for the Examination of Preliminary Appeals. 
  • Provision of legal services and advice to a Spanish listed company in relation to existing disputes deriving from a Contract for the Project Management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management of a Refinery Upgrading Project.
  • Objection procedure before the Greek Administrative Courts regarding the Decision of the Tax Authority for not exempting Greek companies from the imposition of special tax on their real estate in case the ultimate shareholder of the companies is a trust.
  • Legal advice and representation before the pertinent courts of Athens of the Greek subsidiary of a global company in the technology sector in a pending litigation with a Greek IT company, as well as legal advice in relation to the Greek subsidiary’s dispute (and threatened litigation) with various travel agencies due to breach of contract by the latter and the termination of their cooperation.
